Heavy rains have flooded sections of the historic Chilkoot Path at Klondike Gold Rush Nationwide Historic Park in Alaska, main park officers to shut the path to all use for the rapid future.
The Nationwide Climate Service on Friday issued a flood warning after the Taiya River reached average flood stage of 17.5 ft. Flooding submerged sections of the Chilkoot Path with hazardous, swift-flowing, waist-deep water in locations. Heavy rains forecasted for Friday morning recommend growing river ranges via the night, with the river unlikely receding to beneath average flood state till later within the weekend.
